Narodnaya Mountain is the highest in the Urals. It stretches for almost 2 thousand meters. The mountain is located on the border of the Komi Republic and the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug. With its cold beauty, Narodnaya Mountain attracts tourists from Russia and other countries of the world.
The first large study and description of the mountain itself took place only in 1927. At that time, the highest point of the Urals was considered to be Mount Telposiz, the second candidate was Sabre. One of the expedition's detachments, led by geologist Aleshkov, proved otherwise. He named the mountain Narodnaya and measured the height for the first time. It turned out that it is the highest point of the mountain system separating Europe and Asia. Then the figure of 1870 meters appeared, later it was established that the height was still somewhat higher - 1895 meters above sea level.
The mass conquest of this peak has been going on since the middle of the last century. It was then that commemorative signs began to appear here. They say that there was even a bust of Lenin, something remains of him to this day. A cross was also installed during the celebration of the two thousandth anniversary of the baptism of Rus. Pilgrims brought it to the very top of the mountain.
The best time to visit Narodnaya is July and August. Tourists claim that the easiest way to climb Mount Narodnaya is from the valley of the Balbanyu River. There are convenient kurums for this - placers of stones. It is much more difficult to climb from Siberia, it is impossible to do without climbing equipment and certain skills. The most frequent route of ascent to Narodnaya Mountain starts from the territory of the Yugyd-Va National Park. This is the largest park of its kind. Its territory is protected. Experts advise not to embark on a journey alone, as climbing is not easy. It is better to find a company of experienced people or contact a travel company.
The reservoir flows at the eastern slope of Narodnaya. Fishing here, according to experts, is excellent – they do not come home without a catch. Lovers of fishing in mountain rivers should definitely visit this place. There are taimens weighing up to 12 kilograms, Siberian grayling weighing up to 2.5 kilograms, large pike downstream.
